A key role for Jewish Chaplaincy at Reshet Annual Gathering

Sophie Dunoff, Chief Operating Officer of University Jewish Chaplaincy, was “honoured” to chair the second Annual Gathering for Reshet, the Network for Jewish Youth Provision. The organisation was set up two years ago by the UJIA and JLC and is run by Chief Executive Shelley Marsh.  

Taking place on 8 November at Wac Arts the lively evening for creative listening, learning and sharing ideas included a session with University Jewish Chaplaincy’s Tracey Rosenfeld-Schueler from Oxford.

Liverpool and North West student Chaplain Rabbi Dan Lieberman took part in an unusual challenge for a man of the cloth: participating in 28 assault challenges over the course of 11 miles last Sunday.

Completing the ‘Tough Mudder’  North West challenge held at  Cholmondeley Castle in Cheshire,  involved putting his body through ice water challenges, running up steep hills and driving through chest high mud – all performed whilst wearing his kippah!

Chaplains start term early at Training Seminar in Birmingham Hillel

Term started early for the Chaplains as University Jewish Chaplaincy was back on campus at the Hillel house in Birmingham focusing attentions on their Chaplains’ own training and leadership! Chaplains from around the UK spent five days on a training seminar receiving expert support and professional training, in order to get ready for the new academic year on campus.

Chaplaincy Ambassador speaks at Eton College

On Sunday 15th May, Rabbi Jonny Hughes, Schools Ambassador for University Jewish Chaplaincy, made another visit to the Jewish Society at the esteemed Eton College. Arranged by Eton's Jewish Tutor, Jonathan Paull, Rabbi Hughes spoke vividly about his personal story and Jewish journey before talking to the boys about why being Jewish matters. The presentation was very well received by the Eton boys who presented Rabbi Hughes with a special Eton College Shabbat Siddur. 

Pesach 2016 on campus

This year is a little different on campus- as the late occurence of the Festival means more students will be on campus for at least some of the festival.

Whether you need help selling your chametz, or want to eat meals at your chaplain's home the guide below should help you on your way. In order to aid your chaplains please do rsvp asap so that they can make appropriate provisions. Have a wonderful Pesach on campus!

 

University Jewish Chaplaincy message for all UK Jewish students during 'Israel Apartheid' Week

Due to this week being 'Israel Apartheid' Week Chief Operating Officer Sophie Dunoff reminds all Jewish students that "Chaplains are on hand to help should you be intimidated or harassed in any way. As official Chaplains to universities throughout the UK we are also able to communicate students' concerns to university authorities."
