Bristol and Western has a Chaplaincy couple at last! Avi and Laurie Rosten came through a rigorous selection process and were appointed after meeting students in Bristol who were greatly impressed by their range of skills – both intellectual, pastoral and educational. Avi will complete a Master’s degree programme, which will enable him to share fully in the student experience.

The couple both studied in London, Avi studying Politics and International Relations, and Laurie Mathematics. Laurie is a trained teacher, having worked at JFS, where she also went to school.

Friday Night loneliness in Central London a thing of the past thanks to weekly student dinners from early October

Living in Central London is an incredibly exciting experience for a student. I have just finished my first year at UCL, studying Biochemistry, following a gap year in Israel. My choice of university was based on a number of criteria, principally ranking for my particular subject. But I considered another major factor to be the availability and quality of Jewish life at the institution.
